Our training methods are positive and praise based. We create a strong bond between the owner and the dog. Your dog will happily work for you because they want to, not because they are being forced to. Training time will become a fun and exciting time for you and your dog while producing and exceptionally well trained member of the family.
Our Methods
Three methods of dog training are treat only, compulsion (making the dog do what you are asking) only, and a combination of treat and compulsion. A trainer that is using either treat only or compulsion only is not being effective. An excellent trainer is going to combine the treat and compulsion methods.
When selecting a trainer ask them first how they train the dogs. You want what is best for your specific dog. Treat training is a form of bribery. Strictly treat training is going to build a bond between you and your dog but there is no respect being established. The dog will only work for treats and eventually treats aren't going to work anymore. Compulsion only is going to cause a dog to be untrusting and timid because they are being forced. Not only is there no reward for the dog but there is also no bond being built between the owner and the dog.
Top Notch K9's combine the treat and praise reward with some compulsion. Combining the methods eliminates the negative results of only using one or the other. We build a strong bond between you and your dog and cause your dog to have respect for you at the same time. By this method, your dog wants to work for you because they love and respect you. Our Goals
First - Educating dog owners to properly raise and train their dogs. Together, we can create extraordinary companions. This will decrease the number of dogs that are abandoned or forced into shelters and increase the number of dogs in happy and loving homes.
