Teaching your dog to behave appropriately in everyday situations using voice and hand commands

For more behavioral issues please visit the Behavior Modification page.

This is a professional training course. Associating vocal and hand commands with each action allows everyone to communicate with their dog easily. Our in-home method is so effective that we guarantee it with a formal contract. You can take your dog to group classes in a store environment or drop them off at a kennel, but you are not getting the one on one attention in their own environment where most of the issues usually are. Through my experience in all three methods, I have designed a program that incorporates the best of all three methods into one program. Your dog will look forward to the training sessions after the first one.

Some classes will take place in a public setting. In these classes, the dog will learn that he/she is expected to behave appropriatly no matter what distractions are tempting them. We pride ourselves on teaching your dog to be well behaved in every situation.

There are 3 options for you to choose from to fit every schedule:

Program 1- One of our trainers comes to the dog owners home once a week for 6 to 8 weeks. The classes are approximately 1 hour and are broken up into 3 sections. The first part of the classes is the trainer teaching the dog owner how to work with the dog on that days new tasks such as hand commands and foot work. The second part of the class is the trainer teaching the dog that days lesson. Finally, the owner works with the dog to ensure that everyone is comfortable with what they learned that day.

Program 2- Training while boarding ensures that you have a trained dog returned to you after only 1 to 2 weeks. This option is the most convenient especially for working families that don't have the time to commit to 1 hour a week. While boarding, the dog is in a home environment mimicking the owners exact schedule of feeding, play, walks, and potty breaks. They are consistantly exposed to other dogs, children, cats, and people. This also ensures that they have an enjoyable experience during the training process. At no time are the dogs left in a kennel. The is a perfect situation for boarding. If taken to a kennel, the dog will most likely be put in a concrete kennel or crate and let out into a concrete kennel run for potty breaks. This creates a habit of going to the bathroom on concrete and not grass or potty pads. Most people want their dogs to be treated like a member of the family and not "kennel number 44". Your dog absolutely becomes a member of the family at Top Notch K9's. The reason we are in this business is for the love of the dogs and that is shown in every dog that we train.

Program 3- This is exactly like program 2 but is a 2 week long boarding/training combination. This course covers all the obedience but also includes housebreaking and other behavioral issues. We take the mess of housebreaking out of your home and put the dog on a solid schedule where we can ensure that it is being done effectively. It takes 2 weeks to break a habit of accidents in the home and build the habit of consistantly letting you know when they have to go outside. The technique we use is bell training. The dog learns that when they ring the bell they get to go outside to go potty. This reduces the risk of the owners not knowing when the dog needs to go outside.

The cost for obedience programs 1 and 2 is regularly $600; however, our beginning of summer special rate is only $450. Program 3 which includes the housebreaking for an additional week is only $550. We have several different payment options which makes training affordable for everyone. Take advantage while the summer special is still going on. Call for your reservation while we still have availability as we are filling up very quickly.

The obedience program is guaranteed with a formal contract.
